Clinical laboratory medicine and mass spectrometry
My core expertise lies in the clinical laboratory and in mass spectrometry. Over many years I have moved mass spectrometric methods out of specialist analysis and into clinical routine: from method development through validation and accreditation to stable operation in high-throughput diagnostics.
As Principal Scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific I played a leading role in developing the Cascadion SM Clinical Analyzer, the first fully automated IVD-certified LC-MS/MS system for routine clinical use, and bringing it to market internationally. Before that I headed clinical toxicology laboratories of maximum-care hospitals in Berlin.
That dual perspective shapes the consulting: I know what laboratory users require, and equally what a development project under time and approval pressure demands.
A second focus is collaboration across sites and cultures. I have led development and regulatory projects in international matrix organisations, where responsibility rests on professional authority and alignment rather than on line management: with teams in Europe, North America and Asia, and with reference laboratories, commercial organisations and academic partners across time zones and working cultures.
Doctorate magna cum laude at Hannover Medical School. Certified expert in laboratory medicine and forensic toxicology, patent holder for emergency toxicological analysis.
